Our Mission
Our strategy is simple, shame those who hire day laborers and make an an example out of them in front of the their neighbors and the community.
We plan to do this by:
- Photographing and publishing the names of businesses and residents who hire day laborers on this site and in local newspapers.
- Protesting peacefully in front of businesses and residences who hire day laborers.
- Protesting peacefully in front of businesses and residences who indirectly benefit from day laborers.
We also plan to do the following:
- Encourage local homeowner associations to enact bylaws that prohibit the hiring of day laborers and ban contractors and landscapers who have hired day laborers in the past from doing work for anyone in that association.
- Lobby city councils to pass strict anti day laborer pick-up laws.
- Encourage the passing of laws that prohibit contractors and landscapers who have hired day laborers in the past from getting city or state contract.
- Lobby local governments to pass laws banning “day laborer” employment centers that do not comply with state and federal hiring guidelines.
- Encourage day laborers, who have the legal right to work in this country, to seek employment at local employment agencies.
What we DO NOT condone or encourage:
- Harassment of any kind towards anyone regardless of race or immigration status.
- Breaking the law in any shape or form.
- Racism in any shape or form.
